Resident License Application


To apply for a Resident License:

  1. Select Producer Licensing in the left panel menu.
  2. Complete the information requested in the following Required* fields:
     
    Note: If you skip one of these fields when submitting the form, an error message displays. 
  • Application Type*
    • Choose Initial if this is your first time to create a Resident License.
    • Choose Add Line of Authority if you are adding a line of authority to an existing Resident License.
  • Last Name*
  • SSN*
  • License Type* - Choose RL.
  • Resident State*
  • License Class Code*
  • Lines of Authority*

            If you select RL, this script displays License Class Code and Lines Of Authority fields.

      3.  Select the Submit button.
            An API call checks whether you are eligible to apply for that type of license.

  • If you are not eligible to apply for that license class and LOA code, the application changes to Tech License Review status.
    In the left panel on the License Tech Review page,
    Eligibility Response Error displays. A list of all the license classes and LOA codes for which you are eligible to apply displays here.
    By selecting the
    Review button, the entire eligibility response displays. A list of all eligible license classes and LOA codes with additional applicant data displays in the Eligibility Response field. You can correct the LOA code and update the application by selecting the Submit button. If the eligibility response returns Eligible status, the application status changes to Eligibility Call. Reload the web page to continue to the Uniform Application step.
  • If you are eligible to apply for that type of license, the Uniform Application page displays.

      4.  Enter the requested information to complete the following fields.

  • NPN - Your National Producer Number
  • First Name*
  • Last Name*
  • Gender*
  • Birth Date

Phone Contact Data

  • Business Phone*
  • Fax Number
  • Home Phone*

Web Information

  • Business email*
  • Individual email*

Address Information

Resident

  • City*
  • State*
  • Country
  • Address*
  • Zip Code*

Mailing

  • Country

  • Zip Code*

  • Employer*- Person or organization name.
  • Date From*- Employment Start Date
  • Date To* - Employment End Date

  • State Code*

      5.  Answer the Background Questions.

      6.  If any of the background questions require additional documents, attach them to the Attachment Warehouse section.

      7.  Select the Submit button.
            The
State Specific Questions page displays. 

      8.  Answer the State Specific Questions.

      9.  Select the Submit button.
            The
Creating License page displays, indicating that Resident License creation is in progress. XML data is submitted to NIPR.

      10.  The application status changes to one of the following, based on the NIPR response:

  • Pending
    This status displays if NIPR returns no response at the time. New reques
    t submitted to NIPR automatically after 24 hours, and repeats every 24 hours until you receive a response.
  • Failed
    NIPR xml and NIPR response display on the Child Case page.
  • Declined
    NIPR xml a
    nd NIPR response display on the Child Case page.
  • Passed
    License successfully created. NIPR xml and NIPR response display on the Child Case page. 

      11. When application submission is complete and you receive a response from NIPR, application status changes to Closed.
