Companies is an optional feature that enables administrators to configure an additional level of grouping users. You can group departments, using companies to create a relationship between the department and project.

  • Departments may or may not belong to a Company.

  • You can group users by a company, and then by departments and user types.

  • Workflow enables you to use public and internal comments and attachments, which are only visible to people who belong to the same Company. See Add Comment Action Type and Attach File Action Type for more information.

To access the Companies workspace, go to Setup > Users > Companies.

Create New Company

To create a new Company:

  1. Click the Add New link.

  2. Complete the form fields:

    • Name: Enter a name.

    • System ID: A unique identifier, automatically generated when you name an object. You can use this identifier to reference an object in scripts, templates, tags, and through the API. You can change the System ID by selecting the pencil icon. Use caution when changing the ID as it can affect existing scripts associated with the object. For more information, see System ID.

    • Company Code: Used only for integrations with CPQ. If CPQ integration is not enabled in your tenant, Workflow hides this field.
    • Complete the address fields for the company if desired.
    • Business Calendar: Select the business calendar that will be used by all users in the department for this company. If you select a different calendar for users in this company, it will override the business calendar you selected here. See Business Calendar for more information about configuring calendars.
    • Corresponding Project: Select a project that will correspond to a case when a user creates the case without selecting a project. If you don’t designate a corresponding project here, Workflow will assign that new case to the tenant’s default project as defined in the Setup > Case Management > Projects. See Default Project for more information. 
  3. Click Save to finish creating your new company.

Manage Companies

When you open the Companies workspace, Workflow displays a list of existing companies.

You can use the Edit action to edit the companies properties.

Select the Actions  icon to execute the following Actions:

  • Details: See the record creation and update details.
  • Show Departments: Displays the related Departments and Gate Keepers.

  • Download Data: Export data for backup or to import into another tenant. A Workflow Backup file (WFB) downloads with your project. You can then import the file into another tenant using the Migration Manager
  • Delete: Delete the object. You cannot delete objects that are used in default settings, or objects that are in use.  

Filter Companies

Workflow provides a Filter feature that enables you to find specific data using queries. The available filter parameters depend on the workspace you are searching from. The Companies feature enables you to filter by the Name parameter.
